Chemical process and petrochemical gases include pure gases, gas mixtures or gas standards for reactions, water treatment, sterilization, instrumentation calibration, heating and processing in the chemical, petrochemical and pulp & paper industries. Chemical process and petrochemical gases are often used with other components to ensure safe processing and handling, including catalysts, adsorbents to purify gas and liquid processing streams, and sulfur recovery systems to remove sulfur compounds from fuel.
Chemical process and petrochemical gases are used in natural gas processing, and include cylinder gases such as ethane, propane, and butane for use in calibration of equipment. Cylinder gas can include a single component gas, such as hydrogen or nitrogen used to calibrate instruments, or can consist of multiple components such as hydrogen sulfide. Specialty gases used in petrochemical gas processing also include mixed and rare gases and gases customized for instrument support. Chemical process and petrochemical gases such as carbon dioxide, ozone, and oxygen are used to create paper products as well as treat the wastewater expelled from pulp and paper mills.
